Thousands convened in downtown Washington DC, advocating for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a stop to US support for Israel. The streets near Freedom Plaza just blocks from the White House, were awash with Palestinian flags, as demonstrators chanted “Free Free Palestine”. Their picket signs, emblazoned with messages like “Ceasefire Now” and “End the War in Gaza”, reflected a strong stand against the Israeli government’s actions, likened by some to apartheid, and a direct appeal to President Biden for humane foreign policy.
This demonstration in DC was part of the “Global Day of Action for Gaza,” observed globally in 121 cities across 45 countries, uniting voices in a call for permanent peace and an end to the conflict.
