In Lisbon’s Campo de Ourique neighbourhood, architect José Guimarães of José Studio transformed a once dark and fragmented 50sqm/538sqft commercial space into a bright home for himself and his young family. Working with a modest budget, the renovation preserves much of the original layout while carefully improving the relationship between the spaces. Opening the kitchen to the living area strengthens the connection to a now lush courtyard, while a curved glass block wall provides privacy without shutting out the street. A custom stainless steel kitchen, generous DIY storage, original flooring, and carefully restored materials complete a home that feels calm, connected, and full of light.
