On Thursday, L.A. County held its yearly burial of the unclaimed dead, honoring 1937 people who passed away in 2020. Their remains went unclaimed for numerous reasons: they had no next of kin to claim them, they were experiencing homelessness and had lost touch with loved ones, they immigrated to this country and their family was unable to afford the cost of claiming them.

This funeral, which happens every winter at the L.A. County Cemetery, is free and open to the public. Registration is required and space is limited. {watch}
